An earthquake of magnitude 8.9 struck at 14:26 JST GMT+0900 with the epicentre approximately 130km off the coast east of Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan at a depth of 24km. The shock has caused loss of life, homes and damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami. Two nuclear power plants were affected.
Kancho reports that everyone is okay but there was some damage to the roof of Honbu. |

2009 Australian Open Full-Contact Kumite Championship results |

A very exciting day as over 120 competitors from Australia and New Zealand fought for the top positions in each division. The new venue (Sydney University Sports Centre) proved worthy of the event as the audience was presented with the best view of the action. As with all Kyokushin knockdown tournaments, many highs and lows kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the final bell.
