Duration : 2 day(s)
Event Summary : Australia has been given the honour of hosting the 2nd Karate World Cup. The tournament will be held on the Sat 4th & Sun 5th November 2006.

Event Detail : On behalf of the Australian Kyokushin Karate Association, the Australian Branch Chiefs, namely Shihan Gary Viccars, Shihan Tony Bowden, and Sensei Darren Jordan, the Tournament Organizing Committee and I, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Australia has been given the honour of hosting the 2nd Karate World Cup. The tournament will be held on the Sat 4th & Sun 5th November 2006.

This event will no doubt be the greatest karate tournament ever held in Australia and it is with great excitement that we in Australia are looking forward to hosting this truly international event. We are expecting over 40 countries will take part with over 180 fighters participating over the two day event. We anticipate that we’ll see some of the world’s most proficient full-contact karate fighters battling it out for this prestigious tournament. Spectators will be treated to great displays of skill, speed and power during this event.

The organizing committee would like to invite all Kyokushin fighters to this tournament. There will be three weight divisions (light, middle and heavy) for both male and female competitors. It will be a knock-out competition where only the winners will move to the next round. This will culminate in the final round where the last two proven winners will fight it out for the World Cup.

The World Cup will be held in the Sydney Entertainment Centre, which is one of Australia’s premier venues. The Sydney Entertainment Centre is located in the heart of the city of Sydney and next to the Chinatown, and close to all the main attractions that Sydney has to offer. Visitors will not be disappointed.
