YOUNG TIGERS DOJO

The Instructors at the Young Tigers dojo are highly motivated and serious trainers who are personally recommended by Hanshi John Taylor to teach Kyokushin Karate. The Young Tigers dojo are interested in teaching anyone who is willing to improve themselves both physically and mentally through the discipline of Kyokushin Karate, also recognised world wide as the "Strongest Karate".

The Young Tigers dojo are proudly affiliated with the Australian Kyokushin Karate Association (AKKA) and internationally with the International Karate Organisation Kyokushin Kaikan under Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima (IKO-Matsushima).

The physical training involved in Kyokushin Karate develops strength, co-ordination, stamina, balance, power and increases flexibility, which is important during these years of physical change. Kyokushin Karate is a no-nonsense Martial Arts that focuses on character development, physical fitness and practical self-defence.

Emphasis is placed on establishing discipline and courtesy in yourself/child. The development of self discipline and courtesy helps build positive social interactions with authority figures and with peers. Self-confidence will improve as the child learns to take control over their reactions and in turn will develop the ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations.

We recognise that each training member progress at individual rates, mistakes allow us to learn and improve; members are encouraged to continue until they succeed at a task. Our Kyokushin squads create an atmosphere of co-operation in which members can help each other and are rewarded for doing so. Members learn leadership skills and how to work within group settings.
As members practise self-defence and partner training drills with each other, they learn to respect each other’s bodies and feelings. Kyokushin is good clean fun for all walks of life and a great way to burn off extra energy.

REASONS FOR JOINING

PHYSICAL FITNESS
Talk with your child about whether they are interested in Karate, and what they hope to learn or do in class. If you find you are unable to plan long term with regards to your karate training, then we suggest that you do not bother starting karate, as much is expected from you in terms of your dedication, commitment and focus and as such is not for the feint hearted.
Childhood obesity rates are climbing, and more and more children are spending a lot more time in front of the television, playing video games and using the computer.

LIFE SKILLS
Discipline, self control, respect, patience, confidence, courage, etc.

SELF-DEFENSE
Self defense is the most obvious reason that should come to mind when considering your children in the Martial Arts. Attending a good Martial Arts school would benefit both:
BULLY – By teaching to respect others as well as their own power
BULLIED – By teaching how to calm a situation or defend oneself if need be.

BEHAVIOUR ISSUES
This is tied to the life skills reason, but is very specific in what the desired outcome is. If the instructor is consistent, firm but kind, then the child can really benefit a lot from Martial Arts training.

SAFE AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY
A good Martial Arts school can become a second home for many children. The relationships built between classmates and instructors can last a lifetime and have a huge impact on a child’s life.
Whatever reasons you have for enrolling your child in a Martial Arts school, be sure to discuss your child’s goals with them and come to an understanding that will make both of you happy.
